That shooting pain down your leg is brutal. You stand up and—boom—there it is. Sleep? Forget it. You’re tossing around all night trying to find one position that doesn’t hurt. And you’re walking around like your grandpa, all stiff and careful.
Look, I know what sciatic pain feels like. I see it every day.
You’ve already done the heating pad thing. The ice. You’ve eaten enough ibuprofen to worry about your liver. Watched all the YouTube stretches. Maybe dropped serious cash on that chair that was supposed to fix everything. Still hurting.
Lot of people just stop doing stuff. No more weekend hikes. Basketball’s out. Playing with the kids on the floor? Can’t do it. You’re scared you’ll make it worse. Some days you think, is this just my life now?
No. It’s not.
We help Denver folks ditch their sciatic pain for good. Not the band-aid kind of relief. The kind where you fix what’s broken so you can go back to living.
Denver Sciatica Relief That Actually Works
At Glendale Chiropractic, we’ve built our reputation on advanced sciatica treatment that gets results. We’re Denver CO chiropractors who specialize in pain treatment for people who’ve tried everything else. Our approach combines chiropractic care with wellness strategies that address the whole picture—not just where it hurts.
What’s Causing Your Sciatic Pain?
Your sciatic nerve? Longest one in your body. Runs from your lower back, through your butt, down your legs. Something squeezes it or irritates it, you get nerve pain.
Here’s what usually causes it:
Herniated disc. The cushions between your vertebrae can bulge out. When they do, they press on the nerve. That’s probably the most common one I see.
Spinal stenosis. Spaces in your spine get narrower. Nerve gets pinched.
Your piriformis muscle—that’s deep in your butt—can spasm and bug the sciatic nerve underneath it. Piriformis syndrome.
Wear and tear. Your discs break down over time. Creates inflammation around the nerve. Degenerative disc disease, if you want the official name.
One vertebra slips forward over another. Spondylolisthesis. Try saying that three times fast.
Sometimes it’s obvious. You lifted a couch wrong. Got rear-ended at a stoplight. Other times? No idea. It just creeps up from years of sitting at a desk or bad posture or life.
Here’s the thing though. Sciatic nerve pain is different than regular back pain. It’s nerve pain radiating down your leg. That’s why all the normal stuff doesn’t work.
How We Treat Sciatica at Glendale Chiropractic
Everyone’s different, right? Your sciatica isn’t going to be the exact same as the person before you. So we don’t do the cookie-cutter thing.
First time you come in, we talk. When’d this start? What sets it off? What’ve you tried? Then some basic tests to nail down where the nerve’s getting squeezed and why.
Figure that out, then we build a plan that makes sense for your body.
Our Approach to Treatment Sciatica
Chiropractic Adjustments
Spine’s out of alignment? Puts pressure on the sciatic nerve. We adjust it back where it should be. Takes the pressure off.
Had this guy Mike. Six months of sciatica. Couldn’t sit through his kid’s soccer games—leg kept going numb. First adjustment, he’s walking out feeling 40% better. Week three, he’s back on those bleachers for the whole game.
People get nervous about adjustments. Think it’s going to hurt or be scary. Honestly? It’s not. Some pressure, maybe a pop (just gas in the joint—happens all the time). Most people feel relief right away, not pain.
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression
Gives your compressed discs room to breathe. We’ve got this table that gently stretches your spine. Creates negative pressure inside the discs. Herniated or bulging discs? They pull back in. Stop pressing on the nerve.
Jennifer’s doctor said surgery. Herniated disc. She was freaking out. Started her on non-surgical spinal decompression plus adjustments. Three months later? Cancelled the surgery. Didn’t need it.
Laser Therapy
Brings down inflammation around the nerve. Speeds up healing. Doesn’t hurt—feels warm, kind of nice actually. Laser light goes deep into your tissues. Reduces swelling. Helps your body fix itself faster.
Combine it with everything else and it works great. Gives you relief between visits.
Therapeutic Exercise and Stretching
Pain’s under control? Time to teach you exercises. Strengthen your back. Keep this from happening again. Not generic Google stuff—exercises for your specific situation.
Sarah didn’t want to do them. “Tried stretching,” she said. “Made it worse.” Yeah, wrong stretches at the wrong time will do that. Got her on the right program. Her flare-ups went from weekly to basically gone.
Lifestyle and Wellness Guidance
Tiny changes, huge difference sometimes. Check your desk setup. Show you how to lift stuff right. Help you move through your day without setting off your sciatic nerve. Part of our wellness approach to keeping you healthy long-term.
Had one guy—wallet in his back pocket was triggering his sciatica every drive. Moved it to his front pocket. Done. Fixed.
What Makes Our Approach Different?
Could go other places for chiropractic care. Here’s why people end up choosing us:
We Actually Listen
First visit’s not ten minutes while the doctor types on a computer. We sit down. We talk. I want to understand what’s going on with you. You’re not appointment twelve—you’re someone who hurts and needs help.
We Use Whatever Works
Some places? Just adjustments. Some? Only therapy. Us? We throw everything at it. Adjustments, decompression, laser, exercise. Your body needs more than one thing to heal right.
We Want You to Stay Better
Anyone can make you feel better today. We want you out of pain next month too. Next year. That means fixing the actual problem, not slapping a band-aid on it.

Real People, Real Relief
Tom couldn’t walk right when he came in. Had sciatica three years. Physical therapy, pain shots, everything. Nothing stuck for more than a day or two. Doctor was pushing surgery but couldn’t promise it’d help.
Two months later Tom hiked Waterton Canyon. No pain. Got a little choked up telling me about it. He’d given up on hiking.
Lisa couldn’t drive twenty minutes without pulling over. Had to stop. Her sciatica was that bad. Stopped going to book club. Stopped visiting her grandkids down in the Springs. Getting pretty isolated about the whole thing.
Started decompression and adjustments. Month in, she drove to Fort Collins to see her daughter. Texted me from the car. “No pain! I can’t believe it!”
Happens all the time. Fix the actual problem, people get better.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
New doctor’s office when you’re hurting? Not fun. Here’s how it goes so you’re not stressed.
Show up. Fill out paperwork about your health, what’s going on. Too much pain to stand there? We’ll get you sitting comfortably first.
Then we sit and talk. Tell me about your pain. When’d it start? What sets it off? What makes it better or worse? What’ve you tried? Takes fifteen, twenty minutes. I actually want to understand what you’re dealing with.
Physical exam after that. Check your posture. Watch you move. Test reflexes. Some simple tests to figure out where the nerve’s pinched. Need X-rays to see what’s happening in your spine? Can do them here.
Once I know what’s causing it, I’ll explain it. Regular English, not doctor speak. Show you what I found. What I think is going on. What I’d recommend.
Makes sense to start treatment same day? We can do that. Lot of people get their first adjustment right then. Feel some relief on the way out. Others want to think about it. Come back later. Both fine.
Either way, you leave knowing what’s wrong and what we can do.
Takes about an hour total.
Common Questions About Sciatica Treatment
How long will it take to get better?
Depends. How long have you had it? What’s causing it? Some people feel way better after a few treatments. Others take a few weeks. Most of our sciatica patients? Noticeably better within 2-4 weeks. Keep improving from there.
Had it for years? Takes longer than if it started last month. But even chronic sciatica gets better with the right approach.
Will the adjustments hurt?
People are always surprised how gentle they are. Some pressure maybe. A pop sometimes (gas releasing from the joint—normal). Shouldn’t hurt though. Lot of people feel immediate relief actually.
Really inflamed and tender? We go gentler until you’re ready.
Do I have to keep coming forever?
Nope. Want you better and staying better. Not creating a lifetime patient.
Beginning? You’ll come in more. Maybe 2-3 times a week for a few weeks. That’s what it takes to change what’s happening. Get better, we space it out. Feeling good and stable? Some people come monthly for maintenance. Others don’t need to come back unless something flares.
You decide.
What if chiropractic doesn’t work for me?
Works for most people with sciatica. Not everyone though. Not seeing improvement after reasonable time? I’ll tell you. We’ll talk about other options. Physical therapy. Injections. Surgery sometimes, but that’s rare.
Not going to string you along. Not going to promise miracles. Give you my honest take and help you make good decisions.
Can I do anything at home to help?
Yeah. Give you specific stretches and exercises. General stuff:
Don’t sit forever. Get up every thirty minutes if you’re at a desk.
Ice your lower back 15-20 minutes when it’s acute. Few days later, switch to heat.
Sleep on your side, pillow between your knees. Or back with pillow under your knees.
No heavy lifting or twisting until you’re better.
Keep moving gently. Total bed rest makes sciatica worse usually.
Will my insurance cover this?
Most plans cover chiropractic for sciatica. In-network with most major Colorado insurance. Check your benefits before your first visit so you know what to expect.
High deductible or no insurance? Cash rates and payment plans. Don’t want cost stopping you from getting relief.
Why Sciatica Gets Worse If You Don’t Treat It
Get it. You’re hoping it’ll just go away. Sometimes does. Lot of times doesn’t.
Don’t treat it and you risk:
Pain becomes chronic. Harder to fix the longer you wait.
Permanent nerve damage in bad cases.
Leg or foot muscles get weak.
Really extreme cases? Lose bowel or bladder control. Rare but serious.
Your life gets smaller. Less mobility. Less fun stuff.
Seen people wait months, years before coming in. By then? Way harder to fix. Don’t be that person.
Sooner you deal with it, the faster you heal. Better the long-term outcome.
You Don’t Have to Live Like This
Reading this right now? Probably hurting. Maybe in bed, leg propped up. Maybe sitting real careful in a chair that doesn’t make it worse. Maybe just tired of this, wondering if anyone can help.
We can help.
Don’t have to just manage it. Don’t have to accept this as normal. Don’t have to plan everything around avoiding what sets off your sciatica.
You can feel better. Starts with one call.
